Karaoke Parties For Kids
Karaoke is a form of entertainment in which amateur singers sing along with recorded music using a microphone and a PA system. The music is typically a well-known song in which the voice of the original singer is removed. Lyrics are displayed on a video screen, along with a moving symbol or color, to guide the singer. Karaoke is now a big hit at dinners and parties with adults. But, since children like to perform, it would be a wonderful idea for children to have a karaoke party too. It might even help usually shy kids to loose their inhibitions and sing-a-long.
If you plan to have a karaoke party, the most obvious requirement will be the karaoke machine. If you do not have one, maybe you might want to consider buying one yourself. If you do not intend to do so, then either you borrow from a friend who do have one or rent one from the party stores. Usually the machines now are quite high -tech and come with a very good selection of songs.
Since not all the children will be interested to sing or patient enough to wait while their friends sing, you should also have other activities nearby for them. As for those children who are interested to sing, you must have some form of organization for them. Let them know they must wait for their turn. Maybe they can write down their names and songs they want to sing on a piece of paper. That way you can help them to look up the songs and see that everyone who wants to sing has an opportunity to do so.
You can have a karaoke contest for the children. If you do this, get ready many small prizes and divide the children into different categories so that most of them will walk away with a prize. It is easy to get small prizes at the party supply store.
Since it is a karaoke party, try to have a few microphones so that children can sing a duet or in groups and each can hold their own microphones. Somehow holding a microphone gives one the feeling of a performer and the children will enjoy themselves more. Fun things to include at your karaoke party would be music decorations like fake record albums and cds. A special award for the best singer would be a good idea to end the party.
